Hi there. My name is Rebecca, but you probably know that by now. As I sat trying to determine what information is relevant enough to include in an “about me” page, all I have firmly concluded is that it is impossible to genuinely define ourselves. I can tell you what I am, but I can never tell you in words who I am. Nevertheless, here’s a few things about me.
If you want to get an idea of my personality and my drive in life, you should know that I am twenty years old and married with a full time job. I graduated from the University of North Florida Suma Cum Laude with my bachelors degree in English specialized in Creative Writing. If that makes me sound super Type-A, well, I don’t know. I personally think I’m just efficient. And, despite my never ending love of learning, I was tired of being in school – I mean, I’d been there since I was four years old after all – so I became my own academic adviser and planned out an insane schedule that shot me through college in exactly two years.
So today, I’m a Marketing Coordinator for a material handling company in Jacksonville, FL. My job is great because I have had the great pleasure of making it what I want it to be. The company I am with did not have a marketing department before I came along, so I am building it from the ground up. Very few people get to have that kind of freedom at work, so I consider myself truly blessed in that regard.
As far as my background goes, I was born in Savannah, GA, raised in Tifton, GA, and have lived in Jacksonville, FL for the last ten years. I still have my southern accent and will always consider myself a country girl at heart. I’m most comfortable in blue jeans and boots. Family is the most important thing in my life alongside my faith. You can find me on a farm with seventy of my closest relatives or on stage singing for a Christmas service during the holidays.
In my other life, I’m a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. I love to read, though I don’t as much as I used to. Occasionally, I’m an artist.
I am wife to the one and only Victor Galeskas, a piano prodigy from the beautiful country of Brazil. We met on the worship team at our church. He is a Network Engineer and a child at heart. He brings such joy, love, and freedom to my life. He is hands down my best friend, and just like any good friends, we sometimes get on each others’ nerves. But at the end of the day, I can’t help but be excited to grow old with him.
A few fun facts: I collect pennies I find on the ground to remind myself to always be thankful and to appreciate the little things. I see each penny as a wink from God Himself. I have every single Taylor Swift album (Yes, even her Christmas album from 2007) in the center console of my car. I was Thumbelina in the school play was I was 12. My favorite color is sunset orange, and my favorite food depends on the day. I love to play board games with my family. I am most competitive with myself. I played basketball and tennis in high school though I didn’t enjoy either. I am naturally joyful and optimistic, though some days, I find the world to be a very upsetting place. My favorite movie is Les Miserables, though I enjoyed the book more than I did the movie. The book is in my top 3 favorites alongside Ana Karenina and the entire Chronicles of Narnia, though in no particular order. Bubble baths are my choice mode of relaxation, and you can find me comfortably in bed before 10:00 most evenings. I’m a morning girl who loves a good cup of coffee and the sunrise.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about me. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned in life with you. I don’t take the words you are reading lightly. Words have power. My plan is to use mine for good.
