To Be Buried with kings – original poetry

To Be Buried with Kings – Rebecca Galeskas
I want to be buried with kings
To be remembered as honest and wise,
I want to go down in the history books
As one courageous and strong and kind
Lay me beside king David
Lay me at king Josiah’s right hand
Lay me at the feet of king Solomon
Those righteous rulers of the land
May I ever be firm and faithful
In tasks God sets me to do.
Let my heart be set with prudence
And justice to see His works through
May my eyes be clear with mercy
My ears with discernments touch,
May the taste of God’s grace fill my body
His Word be the air in my lungs
Let my hands set about to doing
The deeds that fulfill His great will
And let my feet set about to walking
All the streets and the paths and the hills
Overlay my heart with virtue
My mind with purity and hope
Bind my soul with hope, truth, and love
Never to let go
So bury me with the kings
May I be remembered as honest and wise
So I can go in the history books
As one courageous and strong and kind
